AOC has mastered the art of being simultaneously of the people and among the elite, a tightrope walk that requires either impressive skill or cognitive dissonance. Probably both.

The recycled materials detail is chef’s kiss—making sure everyone knows the costume is eco-friendly while still being fashionable enough to trend on social media. It’s having your sustainable cake and eating it too, which is the entire progressive dilemma in costume form. You want to save the planet but also look good doing it, and AOC has figured out how to do both.

AOC’s fashion choices have become political statements, from the “Tax The Rich” Met Gala dress to now Climate Barbie. She understands that in modern politics, aesthetics are substance, or at least they’re treated that way on Instagram.
